Tractors and Terriers: APBR Participates in a Nationwide Adoption Event

We attended the Petfinder Pet Appreciation Week hosted by Tractor Supply Company in Manassas. TSC had a great area set up where we sat side-by-side with Bull Terrier Rescue of Virginia and greeted the public.

We talked to a lot of people and our dogs charmed the pants off of everyone they met. Alfred, Boscoe, Minka, and Moosh had a great time soaking up all of that attention!

It was a great day and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

APBR Says Goodbye to it’s First Ambassador

This week we said goodbye to one of our amazing Ambassadors.  Ruffles suffered from severe infection from her emergency surgery to remove an obstruction in her belly.  Despite best efforts by her foster mom, our veterinarian and a surgical specialist, it was determined that her condition was beyond medical intervention and there was nothing more that could be done. Sweet Ruffles was released from this world on Saturday, August 18, 2012, and will always have a special place in our hearts.  She was a very special girl, the first dog in our program, and a true ambassador for her breed.
From her foster mom:

This morning we said goodbye to our foster dog and hilarious sidekick. She was part of our family for nine months and we miss her terribly. She had the biggest smile, incredible snuggling skills, and always made us laugh. Ruffles, you didn’t have a chance to find your forever home, but you’ll be forever in our hearts.

Ruffles and her foster family are in our thoughts.

Sterling Community Yard Sale!

Rescuing dogs is what we do, but it can’t be done without raising money to pay for things like vet bills and food.  When one of our board members saw an ad for the Sterling Community Yard Sale we knew we needed to be there.  Our volunteers cleaned out their closets, set up a booth, and made some money to keep us afloat while the dogs sat this one out.

We thank everyone who donated items and who bought our stuff.  It was a successful day.
